UBC Pride collective (Pride UBC)

Description:

• The UBC Pride Collective (also known as Pride UBC) is a student-led organization that celebrates sex and gender diversity on campus by providing resources, fostering safe spaces, and organising events for 2SLGBTQI+ students.

Accessibility:

• The Collective provides low-cost access to gender-affirming gear (such as binders, gaffs, and packers) for students facing financial barriers through its Gender Empowerment Store.
• The Collective has previously offered voice feminization and masculinization training in group settings, facilitated by trained speech pathologists.  To improve cost-based accessibility, these trainings were free, and will continue to be free whenever they are offered.
  

Community Orientation:

• The Collective hosts weekly meetings through its Trans and Gender Identities discussion groups, providing peer support for trans and gender-diverse individuals. Previous group topics include intersections of transness and BIPOC identities, experiences with medical and social transition, and childhood experiences of gender-diverse individuals
• Through the Collective, students have access to a like-minded group of peer supporters throughout their transition. Likewise, students with lived experience in transitioning get an opportunity to share their stories.
